This section of the ANC website is referred to as the ‘Guide for Newcomers to Newfoundland and Labrador’, or the ‘Guide’ for short. It is intended for newcomers settling in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), Canada.
In the guide you will find basic information about:
- what should be the first steps to take when you have just arrived
- essential Canadian documents and how to obtain them
- elementary aspects of everyday living in Canada and on the Island
This information will help you settle easier and faster, so you can enjoy your new environment and participate in society to your fullest potential.
How to Use the Guide
You can browse the guide by scrolling through the pages or by clicking on the links on each page. If you have just arrived, you may want to glance through all the sections, just to familiarize yourself with the content. You can then revisit the sections relevant to your current situation as you are progressing through phases of getting settled.
In the Guide, we have included many links to external web pages and documents for your convenience so you can easily find more information on particular topics or access documents or forms you might need. Note that we do not have control over the content of those pages and documents, and we are not responsible for their availability or the accuracy of the information displayed there. It is important to us that this guide is useful to all newcomers. If there is a topic or information that is not included here and you think it should be, please let us know and we will consider including it.
