Job Title:                               Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Project Lead
Location:                               St. John’s, NL
Position Type:                      1 full-time position for 12 months with the possibility of extension pending budget availability and satisfactory performance

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Project Lead will be responsible for setting the foundation, designing, and cultivating an equitable, diverse and inclusive work environment for the leaders and employees of the ANC. The EDI Project Lead will also be responsible for building awareness, introducing policies and procedures, based on the EDI survey outcomes and analysis, for Human Resources practices. Acting as a change agent, The Project Lead will create an internal training roadmap and a communications plan to build our employer brand in an authentic way from an EDI lens.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and execution of an EDI strategy and drives change to organizational culture, systems, policies, and processes
  • Develops a project charter and timelines and submits a final project report
  • Implement the EDI Committee that will provide oversight to organizational EDI work
  • Develop and execute an EDI awareness and training plan for leaders to build leadership competency, ownership and accountability
  • Partner with leaders and Human Resources to develop goals and action plans to advance the strategy and as well as drive change capacity and inclusion
  • Collaborate with hiring teams to advance diversity related hiring practices
  • Collaborate with Communications to develop an EDI communication plan, and influence content and communication for internal and external (brand) implementation
  • Build a reporting system to measure progress
  • Consult with divisions and HR policy and programs to enhance culture by ensuring a commitment to EDI is integrated into business processes and programs
  • Create a change management plan as a thought leader and champion of ANC’s commitment to building a workplace culture and environment that is an optimally inclusive experience
  • Building awareness and competency for leaders and employee
  • Create processes that support ANC’s attraction, retention, representation, and culture of the organization
  • Create an internal training roadmap and a communications plan to build employer brand in an authentic way

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree or equivalent education and experience in the above related topic
  • Lived expertise and institutional/systemic knowledge of equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism is a must
  • Experience in successfully implementing equity initiatives
  • Solid knowledge in areas of human rights, equity issues and anti-oppressive frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience in applying equity frameworks to human initiatives
  • Previous project management experience in a related field
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral for the preparation of reports and making presentations
  • Good facilitation skills to lead groups to productive outcomes
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work on confidential and sensitive matters with tact and discretion
  • Ability to manage challenging conversations with stakeholders
  • Ability to work well independently or in a team setting, with diverse individuals

 Conditions of Employment

  • Legal authorization to work in Canada
  • Flexible to work outside of standard core hours as needed
  • Position is subject to a satisfactory Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary
