Promoting Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism in Businesses and Communities in Newfoundland and Labrador
This online event is a pan-provincial forum designed to explore the contribution that diversity plays in supporting the sustainability of businesses and communities throughout the province. Drawing upon lived experiences, the Diversity Summit 2020 will focus on advancing intercultural understanding by promoting the value and importance of multiculturalism, anti-racism, and inclusion.

9:30 a.m. – Welcome

9:45 a.m. – Guest Speaker: Catharyn Andersen

Special Advisor to the President on Indigenous Affairs, Memorial University

10:15 a.m. – Panel Discussion: Promoting Anti-Racism in our Communities

This panel will focus on individual experiences with racism and discrimination, and how we can be better allies in fighting racism in the province

11:00 a.m. – Panel Discussion: Multiculturalism in Business and Communities

Bringing together business and community representatives to discuss the importance of multiculturalism and how it positively shapes their respective organizations

11:45 a.m. – Screening of HOME documentary / lunch break

12:15 p.m. – Guest Speaker: Carey Majid

Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Newfoundland and Labrador Human Rights Commission

12:45 p.m. – Panel Discussion: Celebrating Immigrant Entrepreneurs

A panel of experts share their experiences for building and maintaining successful businesses in a diversifying province

1:30 p.m. –  Conclusion
