Newcomer students in St. John’s are making Christmas cards this month for the newest families to arrive in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The cards will be added to the ANC’s annual Christmas hampers as a seasonal reflection of Canada, Canadian traditions, and the generosity of our local community.
Many thanks to students, teachers and staff at East Point Elementary, Prince of Wales Collegiate, Leary’s Brook Junior High, and Mary Queen of Peace Elementary!
Offering supports in elementary, junior high, and high schools within the Newfoundland and Labrador English and French School Districts, the ANC’s Children and Youth Programs division (CAYP) works to identify and meet the needs of refugee and immigrant children, youth and their families as they transition into the Canadian school system.
Along with encouraging an environment that is accepting and welcoming of diversity, CAYP also has a Youth Engagement Officer on its team to help youth between the ages of 18-30 navigate their career plans and post-secondary options.
