Helping Reunite Refugees with their Families
May 15, 2015
St. John’s welcomes between 140-160 new refugees each year. Unfortunately, not all family members are able to join them on their new journey. Husbands, wives, siblings, parents, and even children are left behind in refugee camps and conflict zones, hoping to eventually reunite with their families.
Through the Association for New Canadians’ Private Refugee Sponsorship Program, we hope to reunite refugees in the province with family members who remain in dire situations abroad, including in refugee camps and conflict zones. In order to provide assistance and support to those who wish to reunite with their loved ones, the ANC is appealing to the community in the hope that the generous nature of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians will help make the dream of family reunification a reality. Donations to our Private Sponsorship Trust will help offset the financial burden of resettlement and ensure a stable and supportive introduction to life in Canada.
If you are interested in donating, or would like more information on ways that you or your organization can help, please contact Ken Walsh at 709-726-6885 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
