Cooking Together Pilot Program
January 21, 2015
The Cooking Together pilot program is a partnership between Bridges to Hope, MUN MED Gateway, and the Association for New Canadians. The sessions allow newcomers and MUN medical student volunteers to share cooking skills, recipes, and learn with the guidance of a chef and kitchen coordinator at Bridges to Hope. The Cooking Together pilot concludes with a grocery store and community room session, giving participants the opportunity to get involved with the preparation for the sessions and connect with community resources. At the end of each session the participants and volunteers share the meal that they prepared together, which includes traditional dishes from Newfoundland and around the world. The medical students and newcomer participants are able to learn from each other through socialization and communication throughout the sessions, providing a valuable learning experience for all involved.
