In September, participants of the ANC Women's Group traveled to Salmonier Nature Park to experience some of the province's wildlife. After exploring the park, everyone enjoyed a cup of coffee before a quick trip to Topsail Beach to take in the sights

On Thursday, September 24th from 5:30-6:30 PM, the Association for New Canadians will be hosting a public information session on volunteer opportunities as well as the requirements of refugee co-sponsorship. The session will be held at the ESL Training Centre Cafeteria off Smithville Crescent (next to St. Patrick’s Mercy Home).
The session will provide a general overview of the ANC’s volunteer programs as well as specific information on refugee sponsorship (i.e., financial and settlement co-sponsor commitments) as well as other ways in which individuals can contribute to the resettlement of refugees in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Association for New Canadians would like to sincerely thank everyone who attended one of our Public Information Sessions on the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program. The turnout for both sessions was fantastic and it was encouraging to see so many citizens engaged in sponsoring refugees.

If you would like to donate to the Association for New Canadians' Private Sponsorship of Refugees Fund, you may do so in person at the ANC's Main Office located at 144 Military Road.
The ANC is currently setting up an online donation option and hope to have this available on our website in the coming days.
Monetary donations to this fund are tax deductible and 100% of funds raised go towards the sponsorship and settlement of Syrian and other refugees in Newfoundland and Labrador

How Can You Help?
Residents of Newfoundland and Labrador can help by providing support through the Private Refugee Sponsorship Program. In 2014, the Association for New Canadians was designated as a Sponsorship Agreement Holder, allowing the agency to coordinate the private sponsorship of refugees to the province. As part of this program, individuals and groups are able to partner with the Association for New Canadians to co-sponsor refugees overseas. As a co-sponsor, individuals and groups commit to providing financial support to the refugee(s) during their initial 12 months in Canada. If an individual or business is unable to act as a co-sponsor, but would still like to help, they can donate to the Association's Private Refugee Sponsorship Fund.

The Association for New Canadians is pleased to announce that the organization has received funding from the Canada Post Community Foundation in order to deliver an After School Program for Refugee and Immigrant Youth. The After School Program will be delivered during the upcoming 2015-16 school year, and will strengthen refugee and immigrant children's academic competencies, while promoting community integration through participation in extra-curricular activities
